Lloyds Bank is a retail and commercial bank operating from more than 1,000 branches across England and Wales. It provides personal, business, international and private banking, and is considered one of the “big four” UK clearing banks. Lloyds celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2017. In early 2018, the bank announced it would invest over £3 billion over the next three years in new technologies and digitisation to improve the customer experience and make the business more efficient. It has also pledged to have women in 40 percent of senior roles by 2020. Communications frequently feature a black horse that is readily associated with Lloyds, and in April the bank launched the next chapter in its “By Your Side” series of ads. “The Running of the Horses” ad, showing on TV, cinema, digital, print, outdoor and social, shows a group of people getting woken up early in the morning to watch horses run along Tomahawk Beach in Dunedin. The ad supports the Lloyds commitment to serving a variety of customers, from teenagers to grandparents, businesses to young families. A 2017 Lloyds advertising campaign (#GetTheInsideOut) won Channel 4’s Diversity in Advertising Award for encouraging people to discuss mental health issues.
