With more than 280 planes serving over 200 destinations in 75 countries, British Airways is the largest British airline based on fleet size, but faces strong competition from international rivals and low-cost operators. To mark its 100th anniversary, throughout the year the brand is curating “The BA 100”, a celebration of 100 people who have helped make Britain “the creative, open-minded, pioneering and welcoming place it is today”. In collaboration with distillers InchDairnie, BA has created a limited-edition anniversary scotch that will be ready to serve in 2031. The casks and oak used come from France and the US, two significant destinations in BA history. The brand has also partnered with Marmite on limited-edition Centenary Marmite. As Marmite is the most confiscated brand at airport security, the centenary jar is sized to be approved for carriage on board. Advertising also marks the centenary, honouring customers with 100 acts of kindness throughout the year as part of its “BA Magic 100” campaign, which has seen the airline arrange money-can’t-buy experiences for travellers. BA is based at London’s Heathrow airport, and carries more than 45 million customers a year.
