In the past year, it has hired Virgil Abloh as the new LV menswear designer, to build bridges between what LV CEO Michael Burke has described as “the classic and the zeitgeist of the moment”. In a nod to the growth of digital living, LV has updated its app, delivering a highly personalized shopping experience with content tailored according to past browsing, and the LV Finder, a visual search tool that allows users to shop for items they spot in a picture or in the street. It has also launched online-exclusive collections, such as colorful New Wave bags, alongside the more widely available “LV Stories” collection, which features bold flowers, tattoo-inspired hearts and the LV initials. There are plans to present a film produced by Academy Award-winning talent to accompany the launch late this year or a new LV fragrance for women.
