Lipton has become a global byword for tea, and its distinctive yellow label is widely recognised. While the brand is most commonly associated with hot black tea, Lipton has been diversifying the range to capitalise on UK consumers’ growing preference for iced tea. It has recently launched the country’s first cold-brew tea bags in five fruit-infused flavours, all including real Rainforest Alliance Certified tea leaves. Other products in the Lipton range include herbal and green teas. Lipton parent company Unilever has been focusing on transparency in the provenance of the teas used in all of its brands, in response to global campaigns to promote the welfare of tea pickers around the world. Details of all of its tea suppliers are now published online, in what Unilever says is “the starting point for any action that makes a positive impact where it matters most”. Lipton is the largest-selling tea brand in the world, available in more than 110 countries.
